Derivative NFT's are projects that usually take the same art style and combine it with another project or different motif. This is done to ride the wave and hype of the original project and ensure and easy awareness and ultimately sales.
This video isn't saying all derivative projects are bad, I've invested in some before. This is pointing out the fact that they won't out perform the works they are copying.
